About this grant
The Brownfield Redevelopment Grant promotes redevelopment of qualified brownfield properties by helping cover some of the testing and remediation costs. Eligible applicants must be undertaking redevelopment of abandoned, idle or underutilized commercial or industrial properties where past actions have caused or may have caused environmental contamination. The program has won multiple awards for sustainability and innovation.
Who can apply
- Applicants must be redeveloping a qualified brownfield property within Edmonton
- Property must be abandoned, idle or underutilized commercial or industrial land with potential environmental contamination
- Applicants must undergo a financial audit if successful
- Must review and comply with the Green Building Checklist and Phase III Cost Submission
Who cannot apply
- Properties that are not brownfields as defined by the program
- Properties outside Edmonton city limits
Application process

- Provide a copy of the Phase III Cost Submission
- Read the Environmental Site Assessment Guidebook
- Complete the Invoice Summary and Reimbursement Package Checklist
- Complete the Statutory Declaration
- Submit application to the Brownfield Coordinator
