Community Clean Up Grant Program

About this grant

The Community Clean Up Grant Program provides funds to Edmonton community groups for bin and truck rentals, disposal costs, and other initiatives that promote community cleanliness. Eligible organizations include city-based nonprofit organizations, community leagues, or business associations. Two funding streams are available: up to $900 for standard clean up projects, and up to $1,300 for projects that include reuse initiatives.

Who can apply

  • City-based nonprofit organization, community league, or business association
  • Responsible for planning, managing, and funding the Community Clean Up Project
  • Must ensure proposed activity is conducted safely and responsibly
  • If placing waste container on City road right of way, must apply for a permit
  • If on private property, written consent from owner required

Who cannot apply

  • This grant is not intended to fund clean up initiatives on public property
  • Ineligible expenses: event hosting fees or promotional items, disposal costs for household hazardous waste, disposal costs for appliances requiring CFC removal, expenses incurred prior to application approval, ongoing operating expenses

Application process

  • Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Submit application via the City's process (currently fully subscribed for 2026)
  • Incomplete applications will receive one email notification requesting required information
  • Accepted organizations must enter into a funding agreement with the City
  • After the event, submit final report and documentation by November 30
