About this grant
The Community Climate Adaptation Micro Grant provides $500-$5,000 to support neighbourhood-driven climate adaptation projects and events in Edmonton. Eligible applicants include groups of community-minded individuals, registered organizations, and charities. Projects must address climate hazards like extreme heat, cold, wildfire smoke, or flooding.
Who can apply
- Groups of 3 or more community-minded individuals who live in separate households within Edmonton's municipal boundaries, are of legal age (18+), and include at least one person who is or is willing to become a Climate Connector
- Registered organizations such as community leagues, condo boards, seniors associations, homeowner associations
- Registered charities
Who cannot apply
- Personal or for-profit initiatives
- Expenses unrelated to the intent described in the application
- Costs incurred prior to grant approval
- Prizes, trophies, or giveaways unrelated to adaptation
- Regular rent, utilities, or overhead
- Items for personal use or benefit
- Alcohol or cannabis
- Employee wages not directly related to the project
- Volunteer or employee recognition
- Energy efficiency upgrades and retrofits
- Climate mitigation expenses (e.g., heat pumps, solar panels)
- Community gardens
- Waste and waste reduction projects
- Lot grading
- Rain barrels and rain gardens
- Mural and art installations
Application process
- Review the Program Participant Guide for full eligibility criteria
- Prepare a project budget using the provided Budget Template
- Submit the application online via the Apply for Adaptation Micro Grant link
- Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are allocated
- Complete the project by November 1, 2026
- Submit a Final Report within 30 days of project completion, including an updated budget, 3-5 pictures, and any other relevant documentation
