About this grant
The Community Mural Grant supports the creation of murals on private property in Edmonton. Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, licensed businesses, and community leagues. Funding is provided on a reimbursement basis with a 25% matching requirement. Priority is given to projects that align with City goals such as equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Who can apply
- Non-profit organizations

- Mural location must be on private property (Community League buildings permitted)
- Legal property owner must provide written permission
- 25% matching funds required (finances, donations, or in-kind)
- Proposed budget, timeline, and mural mock-up required
- At least one community engagement component
Who cannot apply
- Projects on City of Edmonton property (except Community League buildings)
- Expenses incurred prior to application approval
- Hosting costs for production or celebrations
- Ongoing operating expenses or salaries
- Facility maintenance or repair
- Political, offensive, or hateful content
Application process
- Submit application between March 1 and May 1, 2026
- Include photo of mural location, mock-up, proposed budget, property owner permission, and proof of $2,000,000 liability insurance (can be submitted after approval)
- Applications assessed on mural vision, alignment with City goals, community engagement, graffiti vandalism deterrence, and mural preservation plan
- Successful applicants notified by May 16, 2026
- Final report due November 30, 2026 with receipts and photos
