About this grant
The Edmonton Immigrant and Refugee Community (EIRC) Grant Program supports grassroots immigrant and refugee communities settling in Edmonton. It offers three funding streams: Space Subsidy (up to $4,000), Community Action Grant (up to $10,000), and System Impact Grant (up to $20,000). Total funding for 2026 is $426,250.
Who can apply
- Organizations and fiscal agents must be based in Edmonton and serve Edmontonians.
- Organizations must have a total Operating Budget of $200,000 or less.
- Applicants must have sound financial health based on at least 1 year of financial statements.
- Applicants currently receiving other City grants must be in good standing.
- Eligible applicants: Non-profit organizations registered for at least 1 year and in good standing, or collectives/grassroots groups with a fiscal agent.
Who cannot apply
- Individual applicants are not eligible.
- Festivals and stand-alone events are not eligible.
- Projects with expenses incurred before application submission.
- Capital and facility upgrades, renovations, construction.
- Debt reduction, financing charges, interest payments.
- Direct government lobbying or partisan political activities.
- Administrative costs exceeding 10% of total project costs.
Application process
- Prepare required documents: project budget form, audited or internally generated financial statements signed by 2 board members.
- Submit online application through the Community Investment Grant Portal.
- Application intake period: February 27 - April 7, 2026.
- After submission, applications are reviewed and assessed.
- Successful applicants will be notified in June 2026.
- Final report due March 31, 2027.
