About this grant
The Universiade '83 Foundation Grant provides one-time funding to Edmonton-based not-for-profit organizations or public institutions for projects that promote sport or the arts in Edmonton. Grants are based on 50% of eligible expenses to a maximum of $5,000, with applicants required to match the grant amount. Priority is given to projects that enhance existing programs, develop leadership, promote partnerships, or create long-term benefits.
Who can apply
- Be a public institution or a not-for-profit organization registered for at least 1 year
- Have a primary mandate of sport or the arts
- Have no outstanding reports or debts owed to the City of Edmonton
Who cannot apply
- Projects already receiving City funding
- Expenses related to facility construction or maintenance
- Administration expenses not associated with the project/program
- Travel fares or allowances
- Costs of projects started before the grant is awarded
Application process
- Submit application to the Community Grants Office via email at grants@edmonton.ca or phone 780-496-4933
- Provide a project proposal demonstrating alignment with grant priorities
- Include a budget showing 50% match (cash or in-kind, valued at $20/hr for general volunteer support, $40/hr for professional/specialized)
- Projects must be completed within 1 year of receiving the grant
